I am finding the mass of keyboard shortcuts in FCP to be rather overwelming. Has anyone found a way to edit them? (Other than create new ones.) I'd love to delete some and re-key others. I can create new ones but then can't change even the ones I have created (Other than by deleting the set and starting over again.). This seems very user unfriendly, taxes what's left of my brain and slows the workflow.
I use Keyboard Maestro extensively in other apps and love it but seem unable to customize FCP in a similar fashion. Any suggestions?
By pure dumb luck, I found that one can modify the keystrokes much like one uses the Apple Toolbar. If one click-drags a colored command button off of the 'Key Detail' frame it will 'puff' disappear (be deleted). If one click-drags a colored command button to another location, it will be duplicate assigned to that key combination. Also, if one click-drags a command description off the 'Command List' frame to a slot on the 'Key Detail' frame, that command will be assigned to that key combination (or replace what was there to begin with.) Thus one can delete, modify and customize the Keystroke commands to any configuation one wants! I have found no detailed instructions or guides for this process and discovered it by experimentation (aren't Mac's wonderfully forgiving.) I hope this explaination will help others customize. Now if I could just discover how to print-out the customized list of the commands and key combinations, I be a real happy camper!

Download our free 14-day. Hi Victor, It sounds like you have specific (and unique) text shortcuts that work on Mac, and you want these same shortcuts to work in Windows 7 – is that correct? If so, go to the Parallels Desktop preferences dialog (Parallels Desktop main menu - Preferences), and click on Shortcuts, to get the “Shortcuts” window. Once the “Shortcuts” window pops up, click on Windows 7 in the list on the left in the window, and then click on “+” to add a new shortcut. You will see another popup where you can add custom shortcuts.
Enter the Mac shortcut in the “From:”, and then enter the equivalent Windows shortcut in the “To:”. Hope that helps! Let us know if you have any more questions.
